Getting to Know | Ashleigh + Scott

Victoria Cameron - Thursday, February 23, 2012

Back in November I had the pleasure of meeting with Ashleigh and Scott to get a feel for and build an image of their upcoming wedding. Based on the Gold Coast, Ashleigh and Scott had already booked the heritage listed Customs House as their venue and within 10 minutes of meeting them my mind was racing with ideas and knew this would be one gorgeous wedding for an absolutely delightful couple. Here are some snippets of our initial conversation:

Victoria Cameron: You've booked St Stephen's Cathedral for your ceremony and Customs House for your reception. What drew you to these locations?

Ashleigh and Scott: We chose St Stephen's because we wanted to get married in a church that was very traditional, beautiful and grand. For the reception, we wanted something that fitted in with the theme of the church. We had been to a function at Customs House before and loved how classical and elegant it was.

VC: How would you describe the style of your wedding and what colours appeal to you?

AS: The styling of the wedding should be simple, timeless and understated using deep purples, rich reds and a hint of vibrant pink to balance the colours nicely.

VC: What are some of your favourite flowers?

A: I love peonies and roses and would like my bouquet to feature these flowers in our colour scheme. I also like any other flowers that look soft and luscious and aren't overly structured.

VC: You've sent through plenty of images reflecting your style and many of them come from the TV show Gossip Girl. Is there a story behind this?

A: Our favourite television show is Gossip Girl so I've included pictures of our favourite couple, Chuck and Blair. And yes, believe it or not Scott loves Chuck's style! I've also included some pictures of New York as that was where we went on our first holiday together.

VC: How do you envision your wedding?

AS: We would like our wedding to be a really fun day (particularly at the reception) that is stress free. We like a formal setting with a classical and elegant look.

Plenty of information is yet to come including Ashleigh and Scott's inspiration board and later in the year, Real Wedding.

A New Approach

Victoria Cameron - Monday, February 20, 2012

I know we're almost at the end of February but it's usually better late than never right??

This post is essentially acting as a belated "welcome to 2012!" and to fill you in on the new approach I'll be taking this year and the new developments in the works as a result of much business related "soul searching".

Not too long ago some friends of mine declared that this would be the year where quality would come before quantity and I wholeheartedly agree. I know that there will be some out there who'll think this is not the wisest decision in terms of the bottom line however, it's a gamble I'm willing to take.

This industry, especially wedding planning rests in large-part on the relationship between planner/stylist and client and the benefits to both parties are ten-fold if this is positive. For this reason, bookings with The Little White Wedding Company will only be accepted if we feel we're the right fit for you. In a round-about way I have a hunch that all who enquire will appreciate this in their own way. You see, more often than not when the planner/stylist is the perfect fit with their clients we have a sneak peek at the inner sanctum of their relationship; how they look at each other when they're completely at ease, how they negotiate (usually about the presence of pink or how "girly" it will look), and on occasion squabble - more times than not quickly followed by "that look" and laughter. I have no doubt that a few of you reading this will be rolling your eyes or thinking, "yeah, so??" but it's these moments I get to witness that give me a better understanding of each couple. This relationship is something I've discovered flourishes when, you guessed it, we're the right fit.

...onto changes for the Secret Diary of a Wedding Planner. This year, the content provided will hold true to the name of the blog. I'll be adding client profiles so you can meet each couple with me and follow their wedding throughout the planning and/or styling journey. This will also hopefully mean you'll reach the same level of excitement as I do when their photographs and in some cases films arrive!

In season flower profiles, colour palettes and DIY tutorials will also be regularly published for those looking for that extra boost of inspiration while monthly planning advice will be shared in the hope of preventing any wedding related mishaps.

Finally (yes, I'm almost done), our wedding planning and styling packages have been updated for the new year and reflect the "new approach" so if you'd like a copy, click here.

Real Wedding | Morgan + Iain

Victoria Cameron - Friday, January 20, 2012

In September, 2011 Morgan and Iain were married on a beautiful Spring afternoon at an inner city restaurant in Brisbane.

Morgan and Iain chose to have "first look" photographs before their ceremony allowing them to see each other for the first time on their wedding day in a more intimate setting.

Moda Restaurant was the perfect venue for Morgan and Iain's ceremony and reception, hosting 60 of their closest family and friends.

Sandee from Always Fabulous Flowers created the bouquets and floral arrangements for Morgan and Iain's wedding including this amazing floral curtain (using Longiflorum lilies) which framed the ceremony perfectly.

Soft grey table cloths played host to off-white, scalloped-edged base plates and relaxed florals consisting of white ranunculus, white hyacinth and purple freesias.

Dello Mano created the delicious wedding cake using honey caramalised macadamia and classic Belgian chocolate flavours for each of the tiers. Individual brownies in each flavour were also presented to guests as a gift from the bride and groom.

Congratulations Morgan and Iain!

Real Wedding | Melissa + Marc

Victoria Cameron - Thursday, December 22, 2011

Earlier this year one of the most lovable couples tied the knot. To date, it's still one of my personal favourites, not only because Melissa and Marc had a wedding filled with warmth and laughter (and let's not forget the gorgeous details) but because after months of planning I was able to see two of my friends bubbling over with love and happiness.

Melissa and Marc decided to give each other gifts on their wedding day which were exchanged by one of the bridesmaids and groomsmen.

Melissa's beautiful bouquet was created by Roberta from Green and Bloom and consisted of large and small headed blooms such as roses, spray roses, sim carnations, double tulips and hyacinths in shades of whites, creams and pink resulting in all kinds of gorgeousness.

One of my favourite sequences of wedding photos...ever. It's perfect from start to finish with Melissa peeking around the corner and the relief that so clearly washes over Marc as he sees his bride for the first time.

Married riverside by candlelight at dusk, Melissa and Marc's guests were ushered to their black tiffany chairs adorned with clusters of fuschia carnations while a string quartet set the tone for the ceremony.

Following cocktails and canapes, the celebrations continued at Tempo Restaurant. Black and white striped table runners topped with full and soft florals in shades of pink and white dressed the tables with the abundance of candles and a pink colour wash further enhancing the atmosphere.

Seriously delicious bride and groom cookies provided the finishing touch at the individual settings...extra's tucked in the napkins for the newlyweds of course!

A white gloss dance floor had plenty of wear and tear as did the always popular photo booth while the decadent all-chocolate dessert bar was thoroughly enjoyed by all...we're talking chocolate mousse, chocolate pavlovas, chocolate tarts, chocolate fudge brownies just to name a few...YUM!

 Congratulations Melissa and Marc!

Marchesa Fall 2012

Victoria Cameron - Friday, December 16, 2011

Keeping with the latest bridal fashions, as promised here are our highlights of the Fall 2012 Marchesa collection...there were a few problems in regards to only picking a few so the towel was thrown in and a separate post created!

Let's be honest though, who doesn't love a Marchesa gown? They always compliment the female figure and the layers of tuelle, chiffon or feathers make them "other-wordly" creations.

Recently featured in Martha Stewart Weddings' "Icons of the Aisle" feature, designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig provide brides with the following advice: "When choosing a gown, go with something that highlights the features you like most. If you don't feel completely comfortable, you are simply not going to look your best".

Follow their advice and of course wear a Marchesa gown and you can't go wrong!
